"Adopting a family of birds?"
Spending so much time at this paradisal place shows the reality of how nature works. You start to know the different animals surrounding you daily, how they live, act, feed, etc.
Very common to the zone, Alcaravans is a kind of bird that you find almost everywhere in this region. They live in couples, usually nesting with one or two chicks. They are very territorial birds and practically impossible to miss, mainly because they are aggressive about defending their territory and their chicks for a good reason since several predators feed on their babies.
My daughter enjoys giving names to every living creature nearby, and this family of Alcaravans is no exception. Russia and Noruega were finally able to nest a little chick, my daughter named Finlandia, or Finn, as we ended up calling her.
But the birth of Finn showed us how cruel nature can be and the daily struggle a baby bird has to live to become an adult. Several times, I had to save this tiny chick from becoming food for other families of animals, including one time when I saved her from the crawls of the hawk that had already caught her. I adopted the family of birds, and luckily, Finn grew to become an adult Alcaravan.
